Đipša Monastery
Đipša Monastery (virtual tour of Fruška Gora monasteries)
Time of construction: according to tradition, the end of the 15th or the very beginning of the 16th century.
Founder: according to tradition, despot Jovan Branković.
The church is dedicated to the Transfer of the relics of St. Father Nikolaj (May 9/22).
Years of destruction: no data in the 17th century; 1913–1921. it was abandoned, and the first data in the 7th century do not mention buildings. In 1944, the Đipša monastery was mined, which caused great damage; In 1952, the cracked bell tower was demolished.
Years of restoration: in 1702, the monks rebuilt the monastery and the church; In 1743, the church and the inn building south of the church were repaired; 1762–1766. the restoration of the church and the construction of an inn and a bell tower with a chapel; In 1822, the appearance of the church changed again; 1922, 1968 and 1991–1992.
Architecture: today’s church is also the original building created in the spirit of traditional Serbian architecture.
Iconostasis: 1751, the work of an unknown carver, painted in 1753–1754. Teodor Stefanov Gologlavac; it was dismantled during blasting in 1944 (parts are today in the Museum in Sremska Mitrovica).
Today: the complex consists of a church and multi-storey residences to the west of the church, which can be seen by visiting the virtual tour of the Fruška Gora monasteries.
